Eddie applied for his first position with an understanding of Con-way’s strong values — and felt they’d be a good match with his own. As a driver sales representative for Con-way Freight, these values have been critical to his success. As a truck driver, Eddie is focused on his safety, and on the safety of those around him. As a sales representative, Eddie’s kindness, courtesy and winning smile are his most effective tools. Customers respond to Eddie’s engaging personality — and they appreciate his integrity and commitment to excellence.

As a DSR, Eddie Clemonts understands the importance of client relationships. They’re the lifeblood of Con-way’s business — and the reason Eddie has been successful over the course of his 20-plus year career. Eddie also understands that Con-way respects the importance of his relationships outside of work. Con-way’s flexibility has enabled him to care for his mother who, without health insurance or Medicaid, must contend with a medical condition requiring frequent doctor visits and costly medications.

What does all this have to do with Eddie’s role as a DSR? Working for Con-way has allowed Eddie to provide for his aging mother, and make sure she has the medication she needs. It also allows him the convenience of a predictable schedule, making him available at home when his mother needs him most. According to Eddie, “Con-way’s excellent compensation and benefits allow me to care for my mother. My work schedule is five days per week, and I’m home each night, which helps a lot.” Eddie also takes advantage of the Con-way retirement plan because he knows it will allow him to continue to help his mother, while providing a secure future after retirement.
