(NYSE:CNW) today reported net income available to common shareholders for the third quarter of 2008 of $38.8 million (after preferred stock dividends), or 81 cents per diluted share. The results compare to third-quarter 2007 net income available to common shareholders (after preferred stock dividends) of $37.3 million, or 78 cents per diluted share.

A total of 51 new students - along with 100 continuing students - have won financial grants through this year's Con-way Scholarship Program. Founded in 1991, Con-way established the program to support the educational pursuits of employees' children who have demonstrated outstanding academic, extracurricular and civic achievement. The company has awarded more than $2.9 million under the initiative to date.
