Stephen L. Bruffett is senior vice president and chief financial officer of Con-way Inc. (NYSE:CNW), a diversified $4.7 billion freight transportation and logistics services company headquartered in San Mateo, Calif.  Con-way delivers industry-leading services through its primary operating companies of Con-way Freight, Con-way Truckload, and Menlo Worldwide Logistics. These operating units provide high-performance, day-definite less-than-truckload (LTL), full truckload and multimodal freight transportation; logistics, warehousing and supply chain management services; and trailer manufacturing. Con-way Inc. and its subsidiaries operate from more than 500 operating locations across North America and in 17 countries across five continents.

Mr. Bruffett is the company's senior financial executive and is responsible for corporate finance and accounting, strategic planning, treasury operations, financial reporting, investor relations, taxes, internal control and administration for the parent corporation and its subsidiaries.  He also has management oversight of Con-way's information technology group.

Mr. Bruffett joined the Con-way organization in September 2008. A 16-year veteran of the freight transportation industry, he previously worked for YRC Worldwide, a national trucking concern, where he had been chief financial officer.

Mr. Bruffett started his trucking industry career in 1992 as director of Finance for LTL carrier American Freightways in his hometown of Harrison, Arkansas. Six years later he was recruited by the YRC organization, joining the company as director of financial planning and analysis for the then-Yellow Freight unit. Over the next 10 years he advanced through a series of increasingly responsible positions at Yellow, its sister companies and the parent company, including management roles in finance and accounting, operations, investor relations, sales and marketing. He became named YRC Worldwide's CFO in late 2007.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas, Mr. Bruffett earned his bachelor's degree in finance and banking in 1986. After working as a stock broker in Dallas, he returned to school, earning his MBA from the University of Texas in 1990.  He is based at Con-way's Ann Arbor, Michigan office.
