Logistics Manager III

Summary of Job Description:

Logistics Manager must be a dynamic individual that will support warehouse projects and account management. This position has full accountability for ensuring the Operations Team is meeting KPI’s in all accounts. Developing proactive and innovative solutions to drive down cost and improve operations performance is critical. The manager will have overall account responsibility for cost, metrics, responsiveness, and quality goals for the customer. They will develop Menlo as a key strategic partner to the customer’s long term visions. Relationship building with customer stakeholders will be important to effectively communicate Menlo’s value and to understand the customer’s future needs and strategic direction. Strong warehouse knowledge is essential in evaluating gaps and developing a process to correct and improve deficiencies.

Travel requirements:  50%-Domestic and International
Position may also be based in:  Greensboro, NC or Phoenix, AZ

Responsibilities:
  • Understand the voice of the customer and effectively communicate to the Global Operations team.
  • Work with Global Operations Team to define requirements for multiple operations and ensure the implementation of new strategies and initiatives to effectively meet or exceed requirements and customer expectations.
  • Facilitate lean six month visions (Value Stream Maps) to drive action plans for future state operations. Ensure all facilities are driving six month visions.
  • Understand how continuous improvement results impact financials and be able to effectively quantify and communicate to the customer.
  • Use consultative and solution selling techniques to expand projects with existing customers.
  • Manage account Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and past due invoices.
  • Build strong relationships with key customer stakeholders. Drive credibility and trust.
  • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with customer’s executive team.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently. Effectively communicate with international team. Patience and vision required to execute vision in global, matrixed organization.
  • Drive standardized best practices across all accounts.
  • Coach Lean Warehousing System.
  • Support Business Development team during customer on-site visits, developing operational solution, verifying manpower requirements, integrating global best practices into RFQ responses, and new customer presentations.
  • Support and mentor Industrial Engineers on lean warehousing best practices.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years managerial experience (education may substitute for years of experience) providing overall direction, implementation, and continuous improvement of logistics solutions in all phases of warehousing and distribution.
  • Manufacturing Synchronous Material Flow experience preferred.
  • Lean warehousing/manufacturing implementation experience.
  • Experience in different tools used within lean system (Toyota Production System).
  • Finance and profit/loss experience a plus.
  • Experience interfacing with customers or Account Management required.
  • International experience a plus.
